YBCO superconducting thick films for coated conductors have been produced on MgO (100) substrates using a Melt- Quench -Annealing method (MQA).The superconducting transition was around 89K, and critical current densities > 103 A/cm 2 were achieved at 77K, and non-applied magnetic field. The films displayed the YBCO (123) structure without a noticeable texture as determined by X-ray dif- fraction. On the other hand scanning electron microscopy (SEM) showed granular samples with grain sizes dependent of heat treatments.
