This work proposes a knowledge management model in the field of bioethanol. The proposal consist in a platform called BIOred, that is built using the model proposed by Nonaka & Takeuchi, in which the knowledge circulation is presented based on combination, socialization, internalization and externalization phases. In the southwestern Colombia, the knowledge related to alternatives energy sources and the production of bioethanol from agricultural products is largely scattered, hindering the effective collaboration among producers and researchers. The model was built through structural analysis technique allowing the identification and valuation of key issues that construct the network and the critical factors that support the virtual platform. Finally, each network component was assembled around a purpose aimed to knowledge management. This model will establish relationships of collaboration and cooperation between the involved actors of bioethanol production and researchers from centers of research and regional Universities.
