En este ensayo pretendo develar las es­trategias de representacion presentes en la novela La ceiba de la memoria (2007) de Roberto Burgos Cantor, estrategias que evidencian la rescritura de la historia de la Colonia en Cartagena. Inicio exponien­do la importancia de la literatura en la construccion de identidades en el Caribe para luego definir los conceptos de nove­la historica, nueva novela historica e in­trahistorica. Tras esta breve introduccion, reflexiono y muestro por medio de ejem­plos de las estrategias empleadas, como la ficcion toma los espacios borrados por la “historia oficial”, edificando una “historia otra”. ABSTRACT In this essay I try to unveil the represen­tational strategies in the novel La ceiba de la memoria (2007) by Roberto Bur­gos Cantor. These strategies show the rewriting process of Cartagena’s colonial history. I begin by explaining the impor­tance of Literature in the construction of identities in The Caribbean; then, I defi­ne the concepts of historical novel, new historical and intra-historical novel. After this brief introduction, I reflect and show, through examples of the strategies used how fiction takes the deleted spaces by “official history” by building up an “ano­ther history”.
