The Latin American theology is a vibrant factor in the Church that seeks to emphasize that the place to encounter God is with the poor in the world where justice and liberation are fundamental concerns of Christianity. The practical way to do theology in the light of the revealed Word has been of great help to the Church that sees the need to return to the human being as the theological place of doing theology and encountering Jesus Christ. Such way to do theology uses social-analytical methods that constitute themselves in new tools to overcome the scourge of poverty and injustice. The current thesis, in particular, provides a dialogue among three theologians of the theology of liberation and the economist Bengali Amartya Sen on the issue of economic development, further, it seeks to show how the theory of capabilities and Sen agency can provide new tools in liberation theology that will help to liberate the Latin American people from the structures of oppression that enslave them. It makes use of the historical liberation and highlights the whole act of God in history as the possible place for democracy and the Kingdom of God. The work concludes that it is essential to have an interdisciplinary approach between theology and other sciences since the problem of poverty is inherent in humanity and not just in some disciplines.
