The recent peasant producers of Valle del Sol entry into the viticulture with a criteria of Designation of Origin has brought numerous transformations in their productive systems, reflected in the resources and activities to which they have had access, maintained or left. According to Gomez-Sierra (2005b), cultural effects of viticulture in traditional communities, mainly agricultural, are relevant: rediscovery of patrimonies, discussion about participative logics, alternatives for family production, institutional negotiations, technological enrichment and surpluses gain, among others. This article shows the particularities of Valle del Sol´s wine production taking as reference the activities of the family production units (also called farms) and the principles of the Designation of Origin. The investigation starts with the distinction of some features of the viniculture peasants of Valle del Sol as well as their productive activities. For that purpose there were used concepts of Peasant Economy, Production Systems, Designation of Origin and Patrimony as well as their relation to the case of interest.
