This paper will consist of two parts. In the first one, it will present a proposal of conceptualization of the term “globalization”. Drawing from existing critiques to it s pre sent use, globa lization will be define d a s t he f low of ide as a nd substances ac ross no des of progressively g rowing cha ins of (globa l) interconnectedness; these chains are also understood in a political context of people in action. The second part of the paper will analyze the IMF audits, and, through t his, the I MF a s a global ac tor, using N ustad's analysis of H arper's ethnographic work on the IMF as a starting point. In the light of the case study of another IMF audit mission, Nustad's analysis will be critiqued and further developed by means of the theoretical proposal presented in the first part of the paper.
