This article discusses the dogmatic and political evolution on the subject of criminal responsibility of the legal person, which has gone from an emphatic no to the ignorance of the principle “societas delinquere non potest” to a gradual opening in countries with the civil law system, motivated by new challenges posed by industrialized societies and new threats of organized crime, especially in the economic criminal law issues.
