This article presents the importance of the participation of the Social Worker in environmental issues and how he may contribute to the strengthening of the relationship of mankind with themselves, others and the social, cultural and environmental surroundings, in order to foster attitude changes which will favor the improvement of the quality of life. In order to accomplish this, the role of the Social Worker should be focused towards the education for the participation, generation of attitude changes, creation and strengthening of social organizations, counseling in environmental projects and prevention of disasters, promotion of interdisciplinary work, development of research processes, and contribution to the communication of environmental rights and duties as well.
