This research work reviews two lines of enquire that foresights the future of the University organizations, especially in aspects related with knowledge creation and the achievement of competences. We explore in this review, how the traditional teaching practices followed by universities, has evolved, converting this institutions into a research ground. Value added rises after research, development and innovation practices links a new university mission with needed competiveness of industry. Competences understood as skills, knowledge and attributes are for the practitioner in the working place the mirror of innovation practices for the competitive firm.
