La habilidad combinatoria general y específica: Una vía para la selección de progenitores con resistencia a la roya de la caña de azúcar (Puccinia melanocephala H. y P. Sydow)
The present works took as sample the sugarcane stool, using four female progenitors (C1616-75, Pomex72, CP52-43 y Co281). The female progenitrs were intercrossing wiht five male progenitors, (Ja60-5, C334-64, Co421, POJ2878 y My54129) to determine its combination abilities. This fact is utilize to choose progenitors wiht a resistance capacity to rust. The general combining ability (HCG) resulted to be more comportant than the specific combining ability (HCE). The especif combining ability served to define a group of the families able to transmit resistance capacity to descents in a high degree. The resistance capacity found en the descent population was associated wint the degree of reaccion showed up by progenitors and their combinations. A marked effeet of the female progenitors was observed, it means that a great resistance capacity is achieved making special emphasis en the selection of the female progenitor.
