Throughout history, the relationship between governments and the press has always been crucial in determining either the success or the failure of those who hold power. Therefore, not surprisingly, the way the different media convey information can make some leaders become very upset or, otherwise, very willing to enter into favorable alliances with them in order to shape certain agendas designed to be unanimously managed by both, in order to guide the order of the day as determined by the executive power. The Media Observatory (Observatorio de Medios), Faculty of Social Communication and Journalism, carried out a research intended to know the present status of President Alvaro Uribe's relations with the press. The study revealed the presence of direct and indirect pressure exerted by the Government on the journalists.
