After the reading of articles related to the managerial issues, published in the first 50 editionsin Universidad EAFIT Magazin -at the time called Managerial Topics- an analysis of theideas that have been gathered about the manager, his functions in the business and his relationships with the society is presented. A possible definition of the manager, following theintroduction, is required to describe the transition, particularly important in Antioquia, fromthe entrepreneur to the manager. The relationships between the manager and the economicenvironment and the characterization of the managerial tasks are the last part of this article.And finally, it ends with some general conclusions.
