Glioblastoma multiforme: actualidad en marcadores biomoleculares como factores de pronóstico a propósito de una serie de casos con sobrevidad mayor a 2 años en el Instituto Nacional de Cancerología. INC- Colombia
Multiform glioblastomas are aggressive tumors of the central nervous system, the morbidity and mortality of which remain very high despite treatment. Numerous associated molecular alterations have been reported, but only a few are associated with survival. This paper reviews molecular alterations and prospects for diagnosis and treatment related to this subject. Seven patients in the National Institute in Cancerologia INC who surpassed a two year survival period are presented, reporting the clinical characteristics and the treatment which were important for survival. We also emphasize the importance of standardizing both the biomolecular markers and the histological findings in order to improve the knowledge about these tumors.
