Hacia finales del siglo XIX e inicios del siglo XX Bogota iniciaba un cambio en su estructura morfologica y social a causa de la aparicion de las primeras manifestaciones de elementos tecnologicos y mecanismos propios del progreso de Europa Occidental, transformando asi los conceptos e ideologias de los habitantes urbanos. El ferrocarril representa uno de los elementos estructurantes mas importantes en la ciudad, no solamente por su efecto sobre el crecimiento y el trazado urbano, sino tambien por las transformaciones que genera en las relaciones entre los sectores en desarrollo de la ciudad. De esta manera constituye una manifestacion de la modernizacion de Bogota, que consolido la forma del crecimiento de la ciudad y de sus tensiones urbanas, contribuyendo a la transformacion de la estructura morfologica, social y espacial, con incidencia directa en el campo cultural, tecnologico e ideologico de sus gentes. Abstract Toward the end of the XIX century and the start of the XX century, Bogota began a change in its morphological and social structure because of the appearance of the first manifestations of technological elements and mechanisms characteristic of the progress of Western Europe, it transformed the way concepts and the urban inhabitants’ ideologies. The railroad represents one of the elements most structuring important in the city, not only for its effect on the growth and the urban layout, but also for the transformations that it generates in the relationships among the sectors in Development of the city. This way it constitutes a manifestation of the modernization of Bogota that consolidated the form of the growth of the city and of their urban tensions, contributing to the transformation of the morphological, social and space structure, with direct incidence in the cultural, technological and ideological aspects of the inhabitants.
