Thin films were deposited in multilayer TiN / AlTiN with periods of 2, 6, 12 and 24 bi-layers on AISI 1045 steel substrates, by RF magnetron sputtering system on Ti and Al targets (99.99%) in Ar/N2 atmosphere. The multi-layers were tested against to corrosion, erosion and corrosion erosion 90° angle impact and 0.5 M NaCl solution and silica, and analyzing the effect of number of bi-layers on the corrosion resistance of these coatings. The electrochemical characterization was performed by Tafel polarization curves and micro-structural by scanning electron microscopy. The study showed decreased rate corrosion on substrate, it diminished from 2291.05 mpy to 351.24 mpy with 2 bi-layers, and 15.01 mpy with 24 bi-layers. These results corroborate the good acting of the bi-layers in the corrosion erosion resistance. From the results of scanning electron microscopy can confirm the protective effect of coatings on the substrate as well as the increasing number of bi-layers.
