In the present work the existent dispersed information on lulo and/or Naranjilla. (Solarium quitoense Lacmarck) was recopiled to bibliographical and field level. First of all, an exhaustive literary revision was effected about the most important aspects concerning the species. This information was also analyzed from different points of view with the objective of recognizing its validness and practical usefulness. On second hand, diverse producer regions of this fruit were visited, localized at Valle, Cauca, Risaralda and Putumayo, interviewing a total of 45 farmers. For the validation of this information, several criterions of analysis were applied as their experience, experimentations as well as, the persistency or the evolution of their opinions. With this theorical-practical information, aglobal diagnostic was done on cultivation and the general situation of the farmers who are the most affected by lack of and adequate technical assistence, not only for lulo, but fur other cultivations. In general, there is an increasing espectation of many farmers for involving to lulo cultivation but not find a technological support adequately.
