This paper aims to determine possible relationships between the scores in the exam components for entrance to a public university and scores in the scales of Temperament and Character Inventory of Cloninger (TCI). The sample was constituted by 5858 candidates who applied for a Colombian public university in order to be admitted to the first or second half of 2002. Those candidates answered the two instruments mentioned above. Principal Components Analysis with typical scores in the evaluated areas in the entrance exam and the TCI, using them as active variables were carried out. Multiple correspondence analyses were practiced, categorizing the scores of both instruments in five modalities (low, medium-low, medium, medium-and upper). From the analysis we concluded that the scores in the entrance exam and in the scales of TCI are independent. Finally, we suggest conducting two studies, one to measure the personality under another theory, and another in which the relationship between personality and academic performance could be observed.
