The work analyzes the evolution of the exports from the Valley of the Cauca to the United States in period 1980-2005, with the intention of knowing the effects the tariff preferences that were granted to him to Colombia, ATPA in 1992 and ATPDEA in the 2002. The analysis reveals that the total exports of the Valley of the Cauca towards the United States in the last five years have been increased, obtaining the best results stops: to per them, precious stones and metals, specifically the gold; aluminum aluminum and its manufactures, iron smelting and steel; leather manufactures, articles of trip and purses; diverse nutritional preparations, preparations with cereal, milk and pastry shop; electrical apparatuses and to record image; pharmaceutical products; articles of sombreria and their parts; furniture; sugars, articles and confectionery; paper, cardboard and its manufactures.
