Estudio de tipo descriptivo-correlacional y diseno trasversal que tiene por objetivo identificar la relacion entre la ideacion suicida (IS) y las caracteristicas de inteligencia emocional (IE) en estudiantes de psicologia de una universidad estatal del Magdalena. La poblacion estaba constituida por 328 estudiantes, la seleccion de la muestra se realizo de manera intencional, formada por 157 sujetos a los cuales se les aplicaron el Traid Meta Mood Scale -24 y la Escala de Ideacion Suicida de Beck. Los resultados indican prevalencia de IS de 5,1%,, se registran adecuados estados en las habilidades de IE, y se encontro relacion negativa entre la IS y el componente reparacion emocional, no obstante, no se encontraron correlaciones entre la IS y la atencion. Palabras clave: Inteligencia Emocional, ideacion Suicida, Estudiantes Universitarios Abstract This study is aimed to identify the relation between the suicidal ideation (SI) and the characteristics of emotional intelligence (EI) in a group of Psychological students of the University of Magdalena. It was used a descriptive and correlational study and a cross- sectional design analysis. The population was made up of 328 students, and the sample selection process was carried out with 157 subjects, who were tested by the scale of emotional intelligence Traid Meta Mood Scale -24 and the Beck Scale for Suicide Ideation. The findings indicated a 5,1% prevalence of suicidal ideation, but positive results related to abilities of emotional intelligence were presented. Additionally, it was found negative relations between the SI and the component of emotional repair. However, correlation between suicidal ideation and attention is not detected.
