social network as an alternative to obtain resources in the business startup process The business startup process is originated from the human beings' expectations and its relation with the environment. The success of the undertaken enterprise activity will be conditioned by the attitudes and capacities of the individual, and also by the advantages and opportunities offered by its surroundings. One of the most frequent limitations that the entrepreneur face, is its access to financial resources because of the excessive documentation requirements; thus, the system molds the entrepreneur's actions for his company's creation. Therefore, the individual that search alternatives to obtain the necessary resources can activate its social network relationships to resolve its limitations. The objective of this investigation is to identify the networks that the entrepreneurs use to interact with their environment, create their companies and ensure its survival, taking as study object the businessmen of the information and communications technology sector that have settled down in Merida, Venezuela.
