La impactacion del segundo molar, aunque poco frecuente ( 0.08 % ), presenta multiples alternativas de manejo, entre las cuales se destaca: la traccion ortodontica, reposicion quirurgica, Exodoncia y autotransplante, Exodoncia y erupcion del tercer molar en el sitio del segundo molar, entre otros. Esta ultima alternativa es muy discutida en la literatura, por la dificultad en la prediccion de la posicion final del tercer Molar. El proposito de este articulo es revisar las alternativas de tratamiento de la impactacion del segundo molar y presentar un caso tratado con Exodoncia del segundo molar y erupcion del tercer molar en este sitio. SUMMARY Impaction of second molars, although infrequent (0.08%) presents multiple alternative managements such as orthodontic traction, surgical repositioning, extraction and auto-transplant and allowing the eruption of third molars into the second molar site among others. This latter approach is controversial due to the difficulty in predicting the final position of the third molar. The purpose of this article was to review treatment alternatives for second molar impaction and to present a case with extraction of the second molar and eruption of the third molar in to its site.
