The work was carried out during the first semester 1991 at the Research Center Tibaitata, to establish a growth scale for the garlic cultivar Creole Pink and to study dry matter partitioning. The growth phases detected in this cultivar were: Planting and emergence; growth of sterile leaves and pseudostems; fertile leaves; maximum growth; bu lb filling and commercial maturity. The main accumulation of dry matter took place in the little bulbs or teeth, followed by the leaves. Nonetheless, the little bulbs were not efficient as photosynthate sinks, as indicated by the bu lb index of 0,63.
