The following paper aims to highlight the poetic elements which are found in a peculiar and beautiful way in Gabriel Garcia Marquez's literary works: estrangement, poetic thought, intensity of the images and a profound exploration of life. Those elements, which are inherent conditions to poetry, are not only found in several writers of Latin-American magic realism, but also in a special and wonderful way in Garcia Marquez's works. This is perhaps the reason why those works are quite unforgettable for the somatic memory and the intelligence of the readers.
