Colombia fue el primer pais en firmar el Protocolo de Nagoya. Este tratado busca establecer un regimen internacional en materia de acceso a los recursos geneticos y distribucion de beneficios (ADB). Sin embargo solo entrara en vigencia cuando 50 paises lo ratifiquen. Cual es su importancia para nuestro pais?. El articulo sugiere que mas que crear nuevas barreras y controles excesivos para el acceso a los recursos geneticos, deben establecerse mecanismos sencillos que permita usar dichos conocimientos legalmente. De este modo se posibilita el conocimiento, la conservacion y la posterior distribucion de beneficios que eventualmente se obtengan de la biodiversidad.Colombia was the first country to sign the Protocol of Nagoya. What is its importance to our country? The article suggests that rather than create more barriers and excessive controls for access to genetic resources, there should be a simple mechanisms that allows use these resources legally. This will enable conservation, sustainable use, and subsequent fair and equitable sharing of the benefits arising out of the utilization of genetic resources.
