The objective of the article approaches the topic ofthe discovery and the evangelism of America, trying to show how the imaginary created by European people about the American world were the consequence of a theocentric vision to the degree of being considered the New World as a demon's work. This European way of thinking caused them to resort to different strategies in order to carry out the objectiveof the colonization of America, and in that very context the cult image is formulated as a strategic instrument within the process of the indigenous population's evangelism.
