The effect of different water sheets, determined by the evaporation in a type A evaporimeter tank, on the yield of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) was analyzed. Significant differences were found between the humid and dry treatments with an increasing plant development as the amount of water in the soils rised. The highest bean yields in the Porrillo and Calima varieties were obtained with water sheets of 229 mm and 199 mm respectively.
