The classic hero is exposed to other interpretations, including those of artists. His figure has been seen through the creative imaginations of painters and sculptors who have represented him many times in accordance with their own fantasies. Harold Alvarado Tenorio, Colombian writer, examines in this paper the Simon Bolivar's iconography, produced at different times and by different artists, reminding us later of the duty to give to coming generations an image of the hero that corresponds with at least certain truths relating to both his existence and his effigies.
