Dados los nuevos roles que desempena la mujer en nuestra sociedad, actualmente es frecuente la separacion madre-hijo durante la lactancia. Existen modelos animales en los que la separacion materna es considerada una experiencia adversa temprana. El interes del grupo de Psicobiologia del Comportamiento, avalado por la Fundacion Universitaria Los Libertadores, se centra en investigar el efecto de la separacion materna sobre los patrones conductuales, para identificar los mecanismos de transmision a las siguientes generaciones, utilizando como modelo experimental la rata Wistar, para determinar las consecuencias conductuales que ocasiona, en las hijas adultas que se convierten en madres, el haber sufrido de separacion maternal temprana (SMT). Se encontraron diferencias significativas entre el grupo sometido a separacion materna y el grupo control en conductas maternales y de autocuidado de la madre. ABSTRACT Given the new roles that are performed by women in our society, currently, the mother-child separation during the breastfeeding period is frequent. There exists animal models in which the maternal separation is considered an early adverse experience. The interest of the Behavioral Psychobiology group, sponsored by the Fundacion Universitaria Los Libertadores (Los Libertadores University Foundation), is interested on investigating the effect of the maternal separation over the behavioral patterns, to identify the transmission mechanisms to the following generations, using as experimental model the Wistar rat, to determine the behavioral consequences that are caused on adult daughters that become mothers, having suffered early maternal separation (EMS). There were found significant differences between the group subject to maternal separation and the control group, on maternal behavior and on the mothers’ self-care.
