El presente articulo es un avance del estudio acerca del analisis de la influencia de la dinamica familiar sobre el rendimiento academico de los estudiantes pertenecien­tes a los programas de Psicologia de las Instituciones de educacion superior, publicas y privadas, de la ciudad de San Juan de Pasto. En este, se presenta, de manera global, una revision acerca de los principales factores que influyen en el desempeno escolar, haciendo enfasis en la familia como factor determinante, por la impor­tancia que cobra en la formacion del individuo. Se ha configurado a partir de la revision de documentos ori­ginales de investigaciones adelantadas a nivel nacional e internacional, y se ha organizado de tal manera que permite reconocer con claridad la exploracion del tema, desde la etapa escolar hasta la secundaria y universita­ria; permitiendo, ademas, hacer un analisis sobre como el rendimiento academico universitario es el resultado no solo de los factores afrontados en ese momento, sino que, anterior a esto, existen unos antecedentes en el proceso de aprendizaje academico, en el cual, por supuesto, la familia interviene. Asi, el articulo esta con­formado por tres apartados: inicia con la definicion de rendimiento academico; luego, en la parte central del articulo se describen algunas caracteristicas y resulta­dos de las investigaciones sobre rendimiento academico en los contextos de la escuela, la basica secundaria y en la universidad. Por ultimo, se plantean algunas ideas como conclusiones del tema. FAMILY AND OTHER INFLUENTIAL FACTORS IN THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF PSYCHOLOGY STUDENTS This article is an advance in the study about the analysis of the influence of family dynamics on the students' academic performance from the Psycho- logy programs of public and private higher education institutions in the city of San Juan de Pasto. In general, it is presented a review about the main factors that in­fluence school performance, emphasizing the family as a determining factor because of the importance of the individual formation. It Is configured from the review of original documents about investigations conducted nationally and interna- tionally. Besides, it isorganized in such a way thatallows to recognize clearly the exploration of the topic, begin- ning with the school through high school and university. In addition , it also enables an analysis of how the uni­versity academic performance is the result not only of the factors faced in that moment, but before that, it shows that there is a background in the academic lear- ning process, which, of course, the family is involved . Thus, the article consists of three sections: starting with the definition of academic performance, then in the middle of the article it is described some characteris- tics and results of academic research in the contexts of primary and secondary school and at university. Finally, some ideas and conclusions of the subject are presented.
