Abstract This paper presents an investigation into the concept of limit of a function at a point. This topic has received attention of many researchers during decades, the reason for this lies in its importance, along with the Derivative and Integral as the basic triad of Calculus. The ultimate goal of the study is to generate knowledge to the educational development of Teaching Activities for students, so that they contribute to a better understanding of the concept. To meet the above objective, a questionnaire, which was applied to 20 mathematicians teaching at universities in our country (Chile) was developed. In response to the above mentioned inquest, this study approaches to important questions, ie., if considered important the concept of limit and what are the common pitfalls on their teaching, among others. Then another source of research focused on the analysis of the texts of calculus that have been used to teaching. The above allowed revealing aspects as: the importance given to the concept and what is the way to approach it, that is, what approaches used for presentation. Following these studies and appealing to the teaching experience in this subject, this study materialized Learning Activities could materialize. One of the resources used in this item was the Winplot software.
