This work was aimed at analysing cotton farm management in the Cordoba department by describing its components and the characteristic of its environment. Knowledge of the crop's development during the last fifty years and the factors affecting its poor performance as well as that of the cotton far- mers as entrepreneurs and their lack of managerial spirit were identified. Remarkable backwardness in using managerial techniques for promoting better co- tton farming performance was also noticeable. Their role and behaviour in the search for greater efficiency was also studied. An attempt was made to distinguish the way cotton-farmers could achieve the most effi- cient farm system by using different factors such as how resources were used, farm size and the main tas- ks engaged in.
