RESUMEN La ingesta de cuerpos extranos no es infrecuente en la prac-tica medica habitual; constituye la segunda indicacion de endoscopia alta urgente en ninos despues de la hemorragia digestiva y su presencia en las vias digestivas, es una emer-gencia real que requiere una rapida resolucion.En el presente articulo se presenta una serie de 42 casos pediatricos atendidos entre el 30 de octubre del 2005 y el 31 de diciembre del 2007 en la unidad de gastroendoscopia del Hospital Cardiovascular del Nino de Cundinamarca a quienes se les realizo extraccion de cuerpo extrano, y en quienes se evaluaron diferentes variables como: antece-dentes personales, tiempo de evolucion, edad, sexo, mani-festaciones clinicas, hallazgos radiologicos y endoscopicos, ademas se presenta una breve revision de la literatura y un algoritmo de manejo para esta situacion. ABSTRACT The ingestion of foreign bodies is not infrequent in the me-dical habitual practice, the second indication constitutes of urgent endoscopy discharge in children after the digestive haemorrhage and his presence in the digestive tract, is a real emergency that needs a rapid resolution.In the present article one presents a series of 42 paediatric cases attended between October 30, 2005 and December 31, 2007 in Gastro-endoscopia’s unit of the Hospital Cardiovascular del Nino de Cundinamarca to whom I they realize extraction of foreign body, and in whom different variables were evaluated as: personal precedents, time of evolution, age, sex, clinical manifestations, radiological and endoscopics finds, in addition there appears a brief review of the literature and an algorithm of managing for this si-tuation.
