This article presents the artistic work of Jose del Carmen Hernandez, affirming that, in considering his painting we can talk about the art of life, and full artistic life. It highlights his courageous life path bringing him from humble peasant provenience to an academic artistic formation, also through artists' gatherings around the world. Examining his paints, sculptures, murals and abstract works one can watch the artist's relation with his own reality and hope as the engine of his work facing the confirmation of persistent violences.
