Understand the process of building femininity in adolescents aged 12 - 17 from the Municipality of La Dorada, Caldas. Method: The present study is of a qualitative type carried out in a group of adolescents between 12 and 17 years old from the Las Ferias neighborhood of the Municipality of La Dorada, Caldas. Through interviews and focus groups, the experiences, knowledge and influences that adolescents experience in the process of building a sense of femininity were investigated The study is oriented and governed according to the provisions and ethical principles of research on animals and human beings arranged in resolution 08430 of 1993. Results: From the analysis of the categories that show how femininity is constructed in the adolescents of La Dorada, two types of mediations are identified: a cultural mediation and a personal mediation that are part of the process through from which adolescents internalize an image made by men of their sexuality: as their identity as women, it is the process by which they make that image their own. Conclusions: The understanding of the sense of femininity in the adolescent group shows that sexual and reproductive health programs require comprehensive perspectives directed to action formulated with and for this specific population group.
