Descripción de los cambios en los factores de riesgo cardiovascular en pacientes con enfermedad coronaria sometidos a un programa de rehabilitación cardíaca en el Hospital Militar Central en los años 2010-2011
To describe the modification of cardiovascular risk factors in patients with diagnosed coronary heart disease and culminating the second phase of the cardiac rehabilitation service of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation of the Central Military Hospital between 2010 and 2011. Methodology: A retrospective descriptive study in which the review of medical records and records of cardiac rehabilitation sessions was performed. By comparing averages , averages and associations , variables (total cholesterol. LDL , HDL , triglycerides, fasting glucose , glycosylated hemoglobin (diabetic patients) , METs / min / week) , in order to determine whether changes were analyzed evidenced contribute significantly to achieve therapeutic goals established in secondary prevention for patients with coronary artery disease. Results: A total of 143 were admitted patients to cardiac rehabilitation program of which 68 met the inclusion criteria. The mean age was 67.2 years and 82.3 % were male gender . A statistically significant decrease in levels of total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol , triglycerides, fasting glucose and diastolic blood pressure, as well as a modest but significant increase in HDL cholesterol levels was found . Equally significant gains in aerobic capacity was observed. Conclusion : Patients with coronary artery disease culminating phase II cardiac rehabilitation program significantly modify the values of lipid profile , glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and diastolic blood pressure, and aerobic capacity , favoring the adequate control of cardiovascular risk factors
