This article aims at presenting a comparative study of the policies proposed by liberal parties in office at different countries in the andean region, in respect to the involvement of their indigenous eOll1l11unities in the process of construction of their State and Nation during the 19th century. The variables observed are demographics, and policies followed by republican states with respect to comunity lands, tributes and labor from independence to the end of the century.
