Introduction: The idiopathic nephrotic syndrome is a condition with prevalence rate about in 16/100. 000 children, that occurs protein lost through the glomerular filter; the proteinuria > 40 mg/m2/hour, usually with edema, hipoproteinemia, albumina < 2, 5 g/dL and other metabolic alterations. The lack of information about the prevalence of minimal change nephropathy in our center limit the actual knowledgement to achieve a integral treatment to our children and the following of these patients by the pediatrician group. Materials and Methods: It is s a cross sectional, descriptive study in children with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome with renal biopsy that have been attended in the pediatric nephrology department of Fundacion Cardio Infatil for a period of 14 years. Results: The prevalence of minimal change lesions in our patients was 24, 2%, they presented with macroscopic hematuria in 50% of cases and microscopic hematuria in 43, 7% of cases. The chronic renal failure presented in one patient and 3 patients presented steroid resistance with 18, 7% of cases. Discussion: The prevalence of minimal change nephropathy in our patients was the third portion of reported in the literature in general population with idiopathic nephrotic syndrome. This minor prevalence can be explained by the fact that the population of our study is a subgroup of patients with indication of renal biopsy; in addition, the Fundacion Cardio Infantil is a center of national reference, assessing uncommon and complex pathologies.
