INTRODUCTION Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a high impact problem to the health system; different scales are applied as a predictive tools related to the need of define the implementation of prophylactic actions. Currently, in our institution it hasn´t been documented the incidence of PONV, and neither has been the adherence pattern to the guidelines for managing PONV. This study will allow an approximation to this gap in contemporary literature OBJECTIVE To measure the incidence of PONV in healthy adult patients led to surgical elective procedures non cardiovascular in a 60 days period in the Fundación Cardioinfantíl (Bogotá/Colombia) METHODS AND MATERIALS It´ll be conducted a prospective observational study to calculate the incidence of PONV over 60 days. The reference population will be constituted by the described surgical population that fulfills the inclusion and exclusion criteria RESULTS From August/September period of 2017 cumulative incidence of PONV was 38.9%. The medical history: female gender (p=0.011), non-smoking history (p=0.029), POP opioid use (p=0.001), shows statistically significant association with the outcome. The intermediate-high risk patient ratio was 67.8%. The intermediate risk patients group, had the higher adherence rate being 59.09% FINDINGS The cumulative incidence is within reported limits; it was found an intermediate-high risk surgical population, with a statistically significant association between risk factors and the outcome.
