This article measures psychological capital and work engagement levels within a Colombian construction firm. The study had a correlational cross-sectional framework, for which UWES and PCQ questionnaires were applied to 76 employees. The study found a significant correlation between psychological capital and work engagement (r(74) = .66). On the other hand, optimism levels (psychological capital variable) were not significantly correlated with work engagement components. Aiming to improve engagement and performance, micro-interventions were proposed to bolster optimism levels in roles that require so. Additionally, the possibility of implementing a career plan was considered, to mitigate the observed negative correlation between tenure and psychological capital levels.
