The sophisticated human manual ability, considered as a concrete case of learning, is based on the biological sphere by virtue of instinct, but conceived as a process explained by natural selection, it requires the influence of the socio-cultural sphere proper to human beings, so that a hiatus between instinct and learning is perceived. This research proposes through the comparative reasoning between examples of manipulative ability in the biological and socio-cultural, "spider's web is a fishing line" respectively, a plausible level of description provided by enactivism as an alternative current to traditional cognitive science. This analogical exercise shows continuities between instinct and learning. In this comparison, the philosophical potential of reasoned deliberation with respect to what the hand is for human beings in its biological, phenomenological and cognitive dimensions is realized.
