Thanks to its educational function within society, school is a privileged institution for the construction of citizenship. The present document looks towards the understanding of this citizenship education in public schools in Bogotá through the citizenship competencies system of the Colombian Ministry of National Education and through the lens of Biopolitics, understanding the latter as a power technology proposed by Michel Foucault, which looks towards the management of life and population processes along with their regulation. The following research has been made through the analysis of Michel Foucault’s work on Biopolitics and documents issued by the Ministry of National Education, which establish and consolidate the citizenship competencies system.
