This theoretical review of the literature aims to investigate the impact virtual communities and online social networks have on social and personal level. In this review the different definitions of community, the prospects of virtual community and operation of the social networks literature are taking into account. It seeks to understand the current context in the information age and its scope and limitations. The articles collected by different databases give us relevant information about changes and new ways of interaction between users and members of the social networking. It is currently a topic of increasing interest to different authors, and even raises the possibility of risks and conditions for its users. Such is the case of Internet addiction in its various manifestations. In summary, according to the literature, there is a debate between the positive effects of this new form of interaction, communication and relationships between users, and the negative effects on the deterioration of relations in other contexts and the approach of new pathologies linked to excessive use of the virtual.
