Introduction: Renal biopsies guided by ultrasound, are frequent procedures of daily clinical practice, it is important to know the major and minor complications of the procedure, since in the latter group cases that have led to the death of patients have been described. Objective: To determine the frequency of major and minor complications of the renal biopsy guided by ultrasound in the patients of the Fundación Cardioinfantil, in the period between January 2015 to December 2017. Materials and Methods: A retrospective, analytical, observational study of patients who were treated at the FCI for renal biopsy between January 2015 and December 2017, major and minor complications were evaluated, excluding patients with a transplant. renal and pediatric. Results: A total of 218 patients were evaluated, who underwent a renal biopsy. According to the results obtained, the most frequent complication was hematoma (10%), followed by pain (3.2%) and bleeding (1.83%); Hematuria and death occurred in less than 1% of patients. A relationship was found between the presence of complications and the history of anticoagulation. Conclusion: The population of the present study that presented major and minor complications after the renal biopsy was similar to that reported in the international literature, it was possible to establish a relationship of major and minor complications in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and patients who received anticoagulants.
