The entrance to the country of the CENCOSUD group –one of the most prestigious retailers in Latin America– was officiated in 2007 with the opening of the first EASY store, a retailer for construction and home improvement. Five years later, the group enters the country again through the acquisition of the Carrefour supermarkets and changes them into JUMBO and METRO supermarkets. By doing so, they continued their well-known internationalization process that once started in Argentina and then moved to Brazil and Peru, and revealed a very interesting strategy that is worth analyzing given the fact that CENCOSUD is seen as a “healthy” and perdurable company in the emerging Colombian market.
