This study case attempts to clear the political interests behind the Burkina Faso´s mediation in the Ivory Coast Conflict in 2007.Consequently, this degree work analyzes how the internal and external situation of Burkina Faso, influenced the decision of mediating in the Ivorian Conflict. Therefore, this investigation draws on the concepts of National Interest and Political power of the Political Realism theory of International Relations developed by Hans Morgenthau, and the concept of Regime Security exposed by John Clark. In addition to the theoretical sources mentioned before, articles and publications of various kinds were used to understand the phenomenon of this study.
