An evaluation of interstory drifts and acceleration demands in multi-story buildings responding elastically when subjected to near-fault motions is presented. Peak interstory drift demands and acceleration peak floor demands are vital in the assessment of the onset of structural damage and loss potential for buildings contents. Mavroeidis Papageorgiou (2003) developed simplified expressions to approximate pulse-like near-fault ground motions, by using a wavelet of a harmonic motion modulated by a cosine envelope. They
