Based upon the concept of «feigned orality», the current paper focuses on analysing the linguistic mediation of orality in Thierry Jonquet's crime novel, Ils sont votre épouvante et vous êtes leur crainte (2006). This paper will look at the universal elements of the language of communicative immediacy in the phonic, morpho-syntactic and lexical level as employed by the author to re-create the actual speech of his characters.
