Technology Surveillance becomes a powerful tool to accelerate the processes of information management and thus provides an adequate knowledge to identify risks, threats and opportunities of growth. The objective of this paper is based on the analysis of how Surveillance Technology is a catalyst element in the strengthening of strategies and policies in the Administration programs of Universities. At first glance, it is presented a theoretical framework about the main definitions of Surveillance Technology and new knowledge products. Second, it is described the methodology applied in this paper, which is conceived by Angulo (2003), and is based on search, processing, depuration and analysis of information. Then, it is shown the state of the national and Iberoamerican research groups, and finally, it is concluded shown the most relevant results in terms of lines of research, publications and areas of application based on the trends identified on the corresponding maps.
