The Amazonian foothills contain a high diversity of species of flora and fauna, some of them shared between Ecuador, Peru and Colombia. Here, we commented data of observations, reproductive biology, vocalizations and the first documented records of the Western Striolated-Puffbird Nystalus obamai in Colombia. The information comes from two areas bordering the Central-Eastern Cordillera of Colombia, between Cauca and Putumayo, where Andean and Amazonian vegetation predominates. We provide biological information (reproductive behavior and vocalizations) of this species, as well as the collection of the first specimens in Colombia. Although this puffbird has a wide distribution at the west of the Amazon and in different altitudes, there is still unknown information about it. Furthermore, our records support the treatment of Nystalus obamai as a valid species, likewise, we emphasize the importance of continuing to study the biodiversity of this region.
