The objective of this paper is to determine the necessary instruments and procedures that allow strengthening reading and critical thinking practices in students of Technology in Security Administration and Analysis at the ESICI. For this purpose, a methodological approach was made from a qualitative point of view, which was supported by action research, having the semi-structured interview as an instrument for collecting information. As a result, it was found that there are difficulties in reading comprehension and that strategies are required to promote reading. A strategic route and the transformation proposal are also proposed. In conclusion, it is seen that the applicability of the results of this research serves as part of the beginning of the transformative proposal with which it seeks to change the perception of a topic that is fundamentally unknown to many, but that is carried out daily by all without having the greatest effort to improve it.
